ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT :


In the growing digital phenomenon all over the world, MCA program of study provides a great covenant to promote IT industries in every field from small office to even in the film industries for better management and productivity of these fields. The MCA course was started in this college in 1997 with due approval of AICTE, Utkal University,Govt. of Odisha and Department of Higher Education. It was transferred to Industries Department in the year 2006 with a view to make IMIT a constituent college of BijuPatnaik University of Technology, Odisha. It is a six semester course leading to a master degree in computer application (MCA). Every year 90 students are taken through the Joint Entrance Examination, Odisha.


VISION :


  • The vision of the department is to develop the students to cope with the challenging industries expectations to spring up the department to attain the international quality.

MISSION :


  • To produce Best Quality Computer Science Professionals by imparting quality training, hands on experiences and value education.
  • To attain self-sustainability and overall development through Research, Consultancy and Development Activities.
  • To extend technical expertise to other technical Institutions of the region and play a lead role in imparting education in computer science and information technology.


LABORATORY :


The department has following laboratory facilities.


  • Well equipped Linux Lab.
  • Well equipped Wnidows Lab.
  • Well equipped Microprocessor Lab.

COURSE :


The M.C.A. program prepares students to take up positions as systems analysts, systems designers, programmers, and managers in any field related to information technology. The program, therefore, aims at imparting comprehensive knowledge with equal emphasis on theory and practice. The M.C.A. students are encouraged to spend a full semester working in the industry/ in the institute giving them insight into the workings of the IT world. However, the course curriculum will have enough flexibility to enable a student to undertake advance studies in Computer Science later on.
